Empire of Blood Graphic Novel at San Diego Comic Fest

SAN DIEGO, California. 04/21/2022

Born of blood and a witch’s curse, then driven by his power-hungry wife, an outsider rises through the military ranks, seizes the Empire, and brings it crashing down in a bloody civil war as he pursues a mad quest to destroy the gods of Rome.

Recently published graphic novel EMPIRE OF BLOOD will be available in the small press section of SAN DIEGO COMIC FEST this weekend, APRIL 22 – 24, 2022. The “friendly comic convention with a casual atmosphere and an intimate scale” will be hosted at the Four Points by Sheraton, 8110 Aero Drive, San Diego CA 92123. (Festival info: https://sdcomicfest.org)

Writer/Publisher MARK ALAN HEDGES will be available in the small press area.

Illustrator JOSH HOOD will be available for interview by telephone or video. Josh Hood also drew James Cameron’s Avatar: The Next Shadow, Star Trek Boldly Go, and the graphic novel We Can Never Go Home.

Charlie Kirchoff colored. DC Hopkins lettered. They are known for Star Wars, Star Trek and other popular comics. Graphic artist Kelsey Betancourt created additional art.

The groundbreaking graphic novel EMPIRE OF BLOOD debuted at WonderCon earlier this month. The book features 233 pages of high quality color illustration.

EMPIRE OF BLOOD tells the true story of Roman Emperor Maximinus Thrax, and also retells Shakespeare’s MacBeth. This unique, harrowing, dramatic tale of sex, murder, mayhem, and war serves as a timely reminder that power-hungry leaders who ignore civic institutions are extremely dangerous — not only to the common at large, but even to their own closest allies.
